Opening Reception/Industrial Arts: West Michigan
Thursday, March 05
5:30–7:00 pmThe Muskegon Museum of Art paired Muskegon and West Michigan photographers with major manufacturing companies operating in our region to produce Industrial Arts: West Michigan, an exhibition of 19 commissioned photographs that reflects the pride of craft of skilled worker-artisans and the sleek beauty of machines and their products. Industrial Arts also showcases a sampling of historic photographs from the MMA collection documenting the early years of manufacturing in Muskegon. This collaborative exhibition was inspired by the upcoming West Shore Symphony Orchestra’s upcoming “American Made: The Art of Manufacturing” concerts, scheduled for March 27 and 28 at the Frauenthal Center for Performing Arts. Several WSSO musicians will perform during the Industrial Arts opening public reception. Free admission.
Be sure to look out for our very own GVSU participant in this show, Victoria Veenstra! She has completed a series of images that provides the input on the Herman Miller section of this show.
